The location is gorgeous, right in the heart of the Wye Valley in a designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', in wonderfully peaceful surroundings, completely safe for kids and pets with no traffic The house itself is a classic, three-storey Victorian villa which is available for a self-catering party to book for a family gathering, reunion, retreat or conference. Sleeping 22 people it is warm, comfortable and fully equipped, with a lovely big dining room and a very tempting hot tub in the garden. A hand-pulled ferry across the river leads to an excellent pub and hotel. Despite the tranquil location, it's only a short drive to the market towns of Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye, and the major road networks (M4 & M50).
Accommodation general The house feels very clean, light and quietly elegant inside, the furniture a mix of modern and more traditional, although if you can't live without state-of-the-art contemporary style this may not be your sort of house! There are two lounges with cosy open fires. There's also a cloakroom, and a large dining room which can hold up to 20 very comfortably. There are nine bedrooms (one twin, 6 double and two with four beds including bunks, plus two additional sofa beds). Six of the rooms have ensuite facilities. There are four bathrooms and four shower rooms altogether. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern units, plenty of storage and worktop space, and an extensive laundry room nearby. Six people at a time can luxuriate in the outdoor hot tub, up to their necks in delicious bubbles with fresh air on their faces and impressive gorge and river views:! You'll also find a big paved sun terrace with a barbecue and wooden decking where you can sit over a drink and absorb the glorious views.
Location Set in a wooded gorge in the hamlet of Symonds Yat West, with views across the river and up to Symonds Yat Rock, world famous for its Peregrine Falcons. A quiet, private location, 1.5 miles from the A40, four miles from Monmouth and seven miles from Ross-on-Wye. Food shopping is just a ten minute drive away at Waitrose, Marks and Spencer and Morrison's supermarkets. There is also a very good garage and shop nearby in the village of Whitchurch.
Airports: Cardiff, Bristol and Birmingham are all one hour away. Stations: Lydney, Hereford, Newport & Abergavenny.
Straddling the borders of England and Wales, Herefordshire, Monmouthshire and Gloucestershire, this is an area steeped in history with many archaeological gems, including Goodrich, Raglan and Chepstow Castles. It is rich in wildlife, and has fascinating and important industrial heritage. Full details of local river and forest walks are supplied, this is also a prime location for canoeing, rock climbing, caving, horse riding and even balloon flights.

As the accommodation is arranged over three floors the house sadly is unsuitable for wheel chair access. Two travel cots, 2 Z beds and 2 high chairs available upon request.
